Senior Analyst, Housing Economics and Real Estate

Policy

Keir Matthews-Hunter is SHS’ Senior Analyst, Housing Economics and Real Estate. Keir conducts financial feasibility and impact analyses of prospective housing developments and policy initiatives (including inclusionary zoning policies, municipal financial incentive, and equity building/investment policies and programs) to assess the financial viability of new residential development. He also develops models and prepares forecasts on demographic, economic, housing, and labour market conditions to identify future opportunities and challenges facing the housing and real estate sectors. He conducts housing needs assessments, develops municipal affordable housing strategies, and recommends policies and programs to meet identified needs across the housing continuum.

Prior to joining SHS, Keir worked as a housing policy planner with the City Planning Division of the City of Toronto and as a research analyst with the Canadian Urban Institute. He is a Registered Professional Planner (RPP) with the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and a full Member of the Canadian Institute of Planners (MCIP).
