Marko Maric

Senior Planner

Marko is a Senior Planner at SHS. Marko's interest in planning has always been rooted in tackling the complex issue of housing affordability. He is driven by a desire to see high quality mixed-income communities that are truly accessible to everyone - both financially and socially. Marko comes from both municipal and consulting backgrounds, and has a very wide-reaching portfolio of projects under his belt, from expanding cycling infrastructure in Hamilton to helping intensify Ontario's rural hamlets with designs that incorporate new urbanist ideals.

Marko devotes himself to professional growth through volunteering and educating, being on the committee for Hamilton's Jane's Walk and leading annual walks himself, and giving lectures on urban planning at McMaster University and Mohawk College in his hometown of Hamilton. Urbanism even seeps into his hobbies as he bikes around cities and takes photos of architecture and urban scenes.

Current work

Marko is currently working on a range of affordable and supportive housing housing projects and is focused on creatively navigating land use regulations and planning applications.
